Steady traffic and good Adsense on blog. Mediocre performance on the main site. Social bookmarking for Blogger

Traffic on this blog stays pretty decent, comparing to what was here just three days ago.



I have no means to know whether it will continue that way. All I can do now is to write at least one informative post per day and hope that people like them and will return to read new posts. Adsense on this blog set the new record today - $1.26 with mediocre click-through. Looks like Adwords is pretty expensive for that niche :)

Overall Adsense does not make me happy. Not only traffic stays twice below the recent level (still no changes in SERP), but people continue to click on cheap ads. Or Google serves me cheap ones. I have no way of knowing this. Overall I made today $8.89, which translates into $7.63 on my main site. With my daily plan of $15, I'm heavily lagging behind :(

I spend today mostly figuring out how to add social bookmarking icons. It appeared to be quite a task on Blogger. I now on WordPerss this is a piece of cake. Ummm, it just appeared to me that I'm talking about standalone version of wordpress. Like when you build you own site on your own domain - then you have all the control and can install any plugins you want. Pretty much sure you can't do this if you are hosted for free on WordPress main site. So, my rant was pointless - as all the rants are. I remember I decided to give blogger a try because there were no easy way to put Adsense on hosted Wordpress.

Well, I did figure out how to squeeze social bookmarks into Blogger template, and you can see the results. The only thing left is to upload icons somehow. I don't want to host the icons on the other site, so I need to upload them. It will just take some time I guess. I might add some more services, if I find links. And I don't like that bookmarks are too close to Adsense on the homepage, but have no idea how to fix it.

Adsense on this blog behaves again. Second day of higher traffic here.

OK, homepage adsense behaves now. I don't know whether this was just a temporary glitch in the system, or my micro keyword stuffing worked - but there are no more public ads on my homepage - see for yourself :).

Coming back to my secret weapon - here is the traffic pic for today, as I write this:



After yesterday's failure I literally spent the whole day fine-tuning and following up. I changed the copy where it was possible, I used a few more of available options, I teamed up with people using the same tool and used some help from their side. You see the result. I already wrote that it fell short of my expectations, but it's still very impressive nonetheless. I got ten-fold increase of traffic overnight. And corresponding Adsense increase. Let's see if I'm able to hold on this level and move further.

Adsense does not impress me much today. Right now it is showing $6.30, including $0.67 from this blog. While CTR on my main site is on average level, today people click on the cheap ads for some reason, and CPM is way down there. Combined with very low traffic (my SERP are still down there), low CPM produces those mediocre results.

Secret weapon performed not that well... Bad Adsense day.

While traffic definitely had a noticeable growth, it is nowhere close to what I thought it would be. By the order of ten probably, if not more. Other than blaming the tool itself, I can think of a couple of reasons for this spectacular failure. First, I wrote the wrong copy to use with the tool. It's possible, cause my experience in copywriting is still very limited, to say the least. Second, I chose the wrong day and time to run the tool. It's a long holiday weekend with nice weather, and a lot of people are out. Well, I had everything in place and was too impatient to wait...

Could be all three reasons, or even something else I did not think about. Whatever the reason is, I did not get a kind of burst I was hoping to get. It's yet to be seen if this can give me some steady growth of traffic. Adsense was also a joke - the whole day brought 7 cents on this blog.

On my main site both traffic and CTR took a nosedive today, too. I'm showing just a tad more than $6. I did not see such figures since early August. Holiday weekend is definitely to blame, as well as my stagnant SERP positions. I seem to be stuck on the fifth place in both google and yahoo, and whatever I did so far did not help a tiny bit.
